Please leave a comment stating your location (City), which stores in your area double coupons, and what is their policy regarding such (i.e. how much do they double, are there item limits, coupon limits, etc.) I will list the information you provide as a database to assist other shoppers.

Note that I am not personally guaranteeing any information shared here. However, because store policies seem to be constantly evolving, I find that I can’t always rely on what I read online. This will provide some real-time insight from shoppers who actually patronize these locations.

Brighton: Safeway doubles mfr q’s up to $1 and allows stacking with store and “just for you” (loaded on Safeway card) q’s. See Starlette’s notes below for tips. –Thanks Starlette!

Longmont: Safeway doubles without limits up to $1 (the doubled amount cannot exceed $1). Even works on clearance! King Soopers also doubles “up to $1″ like Safeway, but with a limit of 3 like items per visit (not per transaction). –Thanks Telamhury!

    Hi All!
I am in Longmont, Colorado. Safeway will double Mfr coupons. There is no limit on how many you can use, but any coupon worth over 50 cents will be worth no more than $1. You can even use these on clearance items!

King Soopers will also double coupons ‘up to a dollar’ like Safeway, however, they have a limit of 3 like items per visit. Now notice it is not per transaction, but per visit. I found this out the hard way last week. Suave deodorant was on sale for $1.06, I had 9 coupons that took $0.75 off (which doubled up to a dollar), making the deodorant $0.06 each. I broke these up into 3 separate transactions, the cashier refused to do it because it is a limit of 3 per visit. So I ended up having to leave out 6, put my groceries in my car, walk back into the store and get 3 more, put those in my car, then go back in to purchase the remaining 3. Silly, and a pain in the butt, but six cent deodorant is certainly worth it :)

      Hi Telmahury,

Your story is so exciting and smart. LOL I would love it if you wouldn’t mind sharing with me everything that you have learned about couponing? I’m just getting started and I live in Denver.

        Hi Diamond!
Sorry it took so long to reply. I’d love to share what I’ve learned about couponing :) I have been doing it for about 8 weeks now, and in the first six weeks I accumulated a stockpile worth a little over $500 but paid less than $18 for it all! I should mention that in this stockpile i do not have any groceries, it’s all household/beauty/etc items. I am an avid player of the $5 walgreens challenge hosted by, and my other two stores of choice are target and King Soopers. Safeway’s coupon policy is more relaxed, but their deals are usually not as good. Now as far as groceries, I save anywhere between 75-85%. My stockpile includes juices, cereal ,pasta and other non perishable items. You can get great deals on frozen foods, and box dinners but my household just doesn’t eat them. Feel free to contact me, my email is

Oh and on a similar note, beware of the ecoupons for both King Soopers and Safeway. These do not double, and they cannot be used in conjunction with a manufacturer coupon. Consequently, it would be wise to not download the ecoupons unless they are already worth a dollar.

  2. Starlette says:

I live in the Brighton area. At Safeway, they will double manufacturer coupons up to a dollar. You can stack coupons with store coupons and just for you (downloaded on the safeway card) coupons. The only limit they have is if there is a limit on the coupon itself. Beware that the just for you coupons are difficult. If you download a coupon that does not have a limit, you can buy as many as you would like at that price. However, the system at corporate has not worked out all of the glitches. Therefore, the price/discount will only apply to the first item. You will have to pay full price for the item, but if you go to customer service, the will refund the amount for each subsequent item.
King supers doubles up to a dollar, but you cannot combine store coupons with manufacturer coupons. Due to this, I am not very familiar with the rest of the policy.
If you have a coupon that is worth a dollar or more (therefore will not double), I find that target runs some great deals. They also have a huge selection of trial size items (great if there is not a size specified on the coupon). They will also run deals that if you buy a certain amount of a product, you get a five dollar gift card. You can combine store and manufacturer coupons. Also, if you pay with a debit card, you can get the target red debit card and get 5% off your entire purchse. It is 100% free and does not require a credit check. The amount simply come out of your checking account the exact same way it would if you were to use you bank debit card.

I too live in the Brighton area, I was glad to hear some information from someone who is currently using the stores here. I am new to using coupons and have tried using some at Walmart but have not yet ventured into Safeway or King Soopers. I know that the cashires at Walmart are none to happy when they see any coupons (in any quanity), I had been going there mostly due to their price match policy. I use that typically for meats and produce and have them price match an ad from Rancho Liborio or Sunflower market as they have killer meat and produce prices. Walmart also accepts other stores coupons& cataloina’s, but unfortunately they don’t double coupons. I have a couple of other friends here in Brighton who have also just started using coupons, any other information on the Brighton area would be appreciated.

I have thought about getting the Target Red Card, but don’t think I would use it here in Brighton as they have an extra tax in the Prairie Center. The 5% would be nice though.

I’m in Golden CO. Our Safeway says they will only accept 3 like coupons per transaction. They will double up to $1 and allow in ad coupons with Manufacturer.

  4. In Loveland, CO the King Soopers on 29th street and HWY 402, both stores double coupons up to $1.00.

  5. The Becker's says:

Talked with the store manager at Albertsons on Dry Creek & University in Littleton and he said they run double coupons every couple of weeks to months. It’s random.

With this in mind, Albertsons this week, June 22-28 2011, is running double and triple coupons up to $1.00!

King Soopers/City Market & Safeway is double coupons every week up to $1.00 as an ongoing event.

PS It’s amazing the weird looks you get when taking coupons out of several papers at the store. My response, I don’t always get all the ads when buying a paper so I compensate. :) Still got to find the recycling center in Highlands Ranch and ask for the inserts as recommended on the show.

  6. Sarah says:

In the Lafayette and Broomfield King Soopers, they double up to a dollar. I heard rumors about only being able to use three or so like coupons per transaction in some of the King Soopers, but I don’t think that these ones follow that rule.
